Woman arrested for stabbing; man found with cache of weapons

A Cedartown woman was arrested after allegedly stabbing a man in the arm on Saturday, July 3.

According to reports and Polk County Jail records:

Deborah Bartlett, 48, of 422 Morton Springs Road, Lot 28, was arrested for aggravated assault.

Polk County Police responded to Bartlett’s residence in reference to a domestic argument.

Upon arrival, Jack Keller, 50, was observed lying on the ground with a shirt on his arm.

Keller told police that he had been in an argument with Bartlett because he had not been to work that day.

He stated that Bartlett pulled a knife and thrust it toward him. Keller said he then put his arm up in a defensive manner and the knife cut him in the right forearm.

Bartlett said she was upset because Keller “always comes home drunk” and that he had “smarted off to her.”

She stated that she pulled the knife and that Keller threw his arm up, causing the cut.

Bartlett was placed into custody and transported to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office for booking.

Keller was transported by Polk Emergency Medical Services to Polk Medical Center where he was treated for his injuries.

Firearm possession

A Taylorsville man arrested for stalking was found to be in possession of a large cache of weapons on Monday, June 5.

According to reports and Polk County Jail records:

William Eugene Ferguson, 33, of Taylorsville was arrested for aggravated stalking, carrying a concealed firearm and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

Polk County Police received a 911 call in reference to Ferguson stalking his wife against a court order after he allegedly rode by her residence in a car.

Ferguson was questioned during a traffic stop and said that he did ride by the residence once on his way to work. He was then placed under arrest for aggravated stalking.

While searching Ferguson’s vehicle a loaded .40 caliber handgun was found under the seat along with a loaded 12-gauge shotgun.

Ferguson also reportedly had two additional loaded magazines for the handgun in his pocket, as well as two pocketknives.

A large amount of ammunition for the handgun and shotgun was also found in the vehicle.

All weapons and ammunition were logged and placed into evidence.

Ferguson was transported to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office for booking.
