The new addition to the Polk County Jail will soon be open, according to Sheriff Bobby Sparks. Residents who wish to tour the new 224-bed facility are asked to attend the jail’s open house event from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 28. In the above photo, Major Mike Sullivan, left, and Sheriff Sparks stand in the new control room. The room houses a large control panel that can open and shut cell doors with the push of a button. An indoor recreation room and all new cell pods can be seen from the control room.
