The Cedartown Recreation Department will be hosting the 2004 5th District Junior Girls Fast Pitch Softball Tournament from June 21 through June 25 at the Prior Street Girls Softball Park. Tournament Director Scott Colbert say’s that the home team will be determined by a coin toss before each game played.
Colbert also announced that the games will be called after three inning’s of play if a team is leading by 12 or more runs. A game can also be called after four inning’s of play if a team is leading by 10 runs and a game can be halted after five innings of play if a team is winning by eight runs or more.
The entry fee for the tournament is $150 per team and all checks should be made payable to: Cedartown Recreation Department. Rosters and birth certificates for all teams and players should be turned in at least 30 minutes prior to the first game and the roster limit is 15.
All uniforms shall include matching or like colored jerseys that are numbered on the back with six inch number. If more than one player wears a cap, then they all must be the same in color and style. Also, the coach of the team must immediately notify the plate umpire when making substitutions.
Colbert announced that absolutely no abuse or abusive language towards officials, scorekeepers or any recreation personnel will be tolerated. Persons choosing to use unsportsmanlike conduct will be removed from the property.

The current bracket for the 2004 tournament has Bartow County taking on Whitfield County at 6 p.m. on Monday. The nightcap game will be Chatsworth-Murray versus Calhoun.
The winner of the Bartow County/Whitfield County game will take on Cherokee County at 6 p.m. Tuesday. The winner of the Chatsworth-Murray versus Calhoun game will take on Cedartown Tuesday night at 7:30 p.m.
