Police, however, were still searching late Wednesday for Desic Kathorio "Lil Boo" Webb, 27, whose last known address was listed as Johnson Street in Covington, according to Polk County Jail officials.
Webb is wanted for the shooting death of Koi Emanuel Sanders, 19, of 2625 Collard Valley Road, Cedartown.
The incident occurred on Martiele Street at Cleo Street near the Eastview Baptist Church around 10 a.m. Tuesday, said GBI Agent Chris Tolbert.
"From all indication," Tolbert said, "the victim was on the street and (Webb) was either in or around his car when he shot him."
An autopsy performed Wednesday revealed that Sanders died after being shot once in the abdomen, said Coroner Trey Litesey. The range of the shot and the type of weapon have not yet been determined, he added.
Now investigators are trying to find Webb and determine a possible motive.
"We don't know if there was an altercation at first or if it was a random thing," Tolbert said.
Interim Cedartown Police Chief Keith Barber said they believe the two knew each other.
"Right now we're looking for Webb. We think we can learn a lot more once we find him," Barber said.
Webb may still have the murder weapon, and should be considered armed and dangerous, authorities said. "Right now, we are hunting the suspect," Tolbert said.
Sanders' death is the first Polk County homicide this year, and the second in two weeks. Shawn Moss Kelley, 33, was found shot to death early Dec. 23 at a store in the Antioch community between Cedartown and Rockmart. Larry Shane Turner, 33, of Aragon, was charged that day with Kelley's murder.
