The training camp will feature wheelchair athletes from around the world. Hometown favorite Krige Schabort, originally from Somerset West, South Africa, will be ready to claim the prize in his adopted home’s annual race. The event will be held in Cedartown and feature daily practices, a pool party, and a barbecue sponsored by the city of Cedartown.
The Pre-Peachtree training camp will be capped with the Cedartown 5K.
The race begins at Peek’s Park on College St. From there, the racers will turn onto Lakeside Dr. before moving onto Wiley Rd.
The course then circles up John Phillips Rd., returning to Lakeside Dr. en route to Marshall St. in order to connect with George West Rd.
The athletes will then face three lengthy straightaways as they plot their movements on John Phillips Rd., West John Hand Rd., and finally College St.
The final stretch on College St. will determine the winner as Schabort and company speed to the finish line at Peek’s Park.
This will be the third annual training camp held in Cedartown.
