Barrett, serving the fourth year of his first term in office as a Cedartown Commissioner, said that he thanks the rest of the commission for their confidence in him to serve in the position formerly held by Commissioner Wilburn Brown in 2004.
“I look forward to working with the commission and staff to continue to provide low cost, high quality services,” he said.
Barrett further stated that he is looking forward to working with other local governments to promote quality, controlled growth.
Barrett was named as Chairman Pro-Tem in 2004, a position which Commissioner Bert Wood was chosen to fill for 2005.
The son of the late Curtis Barrett, former county commissioner, the newly elected chairman said that he takes pride in his father’s public service and hopes that the people of Cedartown will see the same strong leadership qualities in him that his father displayed so well back in the 70s.
Johnny Barrett is married to Deborah Benefield Barrett and they have a son, Daniel, who is a political science major and a senior at LaGrange College.
