Katie Rutledge, a student at Cedartown High School, has been chosen as STAR student by the Polk County Chamber of Commerce.

The senior is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mike Rutledge. She is ranked fourth in her class with a 4.0 grade point average.

At CHS, Rutledge has been active in the National Honor Society, Student Council, Key Club, Spanish Club, VICA, softball, tennis, basketball, soccer and FCA.

Rutledge chose Tony Lundy as her STAR teacher. Both were recognized last Thursday at the high school.

On the announcement that Rutledge had earned STAR student, the senior student body gave their fellow peer a standing ovation, due to her academic achievement and strong will of recovering quickly from a serious automobile accident earlier in the year.
