Krige Schabort was recently honored by the City of Cedartown with a reception outside City Hall. The event was held in honor of Schabort and his many accomplishments. Schabort, a native of South Africa and resident of Cedartown, won first place in the wheelchair division of the Peachtree Road Race. A large crowd gathered to meet Schabort as he arrived at the festivity. Bert Wood, Cedartown City Chairman, declared Friday, August 2, as Krige Schabort Day in Cedartown. As a gesture of appreciation, the South African flag was flown underneath the Cedartown and American flags during the reception.
