A routine traffic stop ended in an arrest on drug charges on April 26.
From reports:
Trevor Shane Evans, 31, of 111 Philpot St., was arrested and charged with violating the Georgia Controlled Substance Act for possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug related objects.
During a traffic stop on Highway 27 North at Oakgrove Road, Evans was reported to have been acting “very suspicious and nervous as if he was trying to hide something.”
When asked for consent to search, Evans said no, and stated that “he did not see any reason to.”
Knives were taken out of the subject’s pockets for officer safety as he was issued a traffic citation.
Evans was then advised that he was free to go. Cpl. Michael McGee started to leave when he realized he had forgotten to give Evans back his knives.
McGee walked back to the front of the vehicle to where the subject was standing and gave him back the knives.
As the subject raised his left hand, McGee noticed a small piece of straw sticking out of a small pouch.
When asked what it was, Evans stated that it was a toothpick. As the subject raised his hand with the toothpick, McGee noticed a small green piece of plastic in the pouch.
McGee asked Evans what was in the pouch, to which he said there was nothing in it.
The officer then asked if he could see into the pouch. Evans was showing McGee that there was nothing in the pouch when the officer noticed the green plastic was now in subject’s hand.
Evans was told to place his hands on the hood of the vehicle, at which point he allegedly threw the green plastic in the vent on the front of the vehicle.
McGee was able to obtain the plastic out of the vent, which reportedly had white residue on it.
Evans also threw a pack of cigarettes on the ground, which was reported to contain suspected methamphetamine.
A
fter checking the subject’s car, a set of scales was found to be under the driver’s seat. Glass tubing was also found, which also contained white residue believed to be methamphetamine.
Evans was taken to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office for booking.
