In a Tuesday meeting held at Cherokee Country Club in Cedartown, four local students were recognized for their outstanding high school careers and rewarded with a scholarship that the Polk County Board of Education hopes will help these students continue such commendable work.

Katie Couch, CTAE (career, technical, agricultural and education) Director, presented the scholarships to the graduates following a brief synopsis of each student’s involvement throughout high school.

The Polk-Haralson Human Resource Employer Committee Student Scholarship was awarded to Charise Purser from Cedartown High School, Janice Warren from Rockmart High School, Stephanie McIntosh from Bremen High School, and Dar Robinson from Haralson County High School.

The Chamber raises the scholarship money through its annual softball tournament, scheduled for July 17, 2009. If you are interested in organizing a team, volunteering, or sponsoring this event, please contact the Polk County Chamber of Commerce.
