Update: Two people are being treated for injuries after a head on collision on Highway 101 around 6:30 a.m. today, according to police.

According to Cpl. Greg Beck of the Floyd County Police Department:

18 year-old Jordan Salmon of Rome was driving a 2005 red Ford Mustang northbound on Ga. 101 when he crossed the center lane and struck another driver in a white 1996 Nissan head-on. Salmon reportedly stated that he had fallen asleep at the wheel.

Both drivers were transported to Floyd Medical Center with visible injuries and are being treated there at this time, said Beck.

Jordan was cited for failure to maintain lane, Beck said, and the accident is still under investigation.
