Spencer Ward went deep sea fishing in Destin, Fla. last month and the 10-year-old reeled in two red snapper at the same time. Ward was vacationing with his parents Neil and Roby Ward and sister Sunny, all of Buchanan. Ward’s grandparents are Bob and Cathy Smith of Cedartown.

As summer approaches, the kids in Polk County continue to show that they are good at catching fish despite the rising heat. With fishing being such a popular pastime in this part of the state, The Cedartown Standard gladly accepts fishing pictures of children to put in the paper.

However, only pictures of kids 16-and-under will be accepted, unless it is an unusually large fish caught by someone older. The Standard also asks that a childs picture be submitted no more than twice a year.

Photos may be brought by the office at 213 Main Street, between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday or they may be e-mailed to Brad Easterwood at BEasterwood@Cedartownstd.com as a .jpeg attachment.

When submitting the photo, parents should include the name of the kid(s) in the photo, the place the fish was caught and what kind of fish it is.
