The third suspect in a stabbing and attempted armed rob-bery in a Rockmart residence in early April is behind bars.

According to Polk County jail docket reports, Travis Dewayne Proctor, 24, of 1023 Hutto Road, Cedartown, was picked up Monday by the Polk County Sheriff’s Department on a warrant.

Proctor is charged with armed robbery and aggravated assault. He remains in the Polk County Jail without bond.

Proctor allegedly joined Ricky Lee Messick, 43, 851 Taylorsville Rd., Aragon, and Dustin McClain Ward, 24, 88 Portland Circle, Aragon, in attempting to rob 73-year-old retiree John Brown of West Pine Street in Rockmart on April 4.

Brown told police Messick came to him for money that day. When he said no, Messick allegedly came back to Brown’s house with two other men, identified by police as Ward and Proctor. Brown said in his police statement Messick waited at a car while the other two men beat and stabbed him.

Messick and Ward were arrested soon after the incident.
