Cedartown police responded to the parking lot beside Casey’s Food Store in reference to a stolen automobile, on April 20.

The complainant stated that she has pancreatitis and was in a lot of pain on April 19. She advised that she could not drive, so she pulled into that parking lot and parked her vehicle to wait for her father to pick her up.

The complainant stated that she was pretty sure she locked the doors and took the keys with her, but due to her state she could not remember. However, she did advise that she could not find the keys now.

On the date of the report, the complainant arrived at the lot to pick up her car only to find it missing.

The car was described as a 2007 Chevrolet Impala, white in color. No value was listed for the car, but it was entered into the G.C.I.C. database.

Shoplifting

Cedartown police were dispatched to Kroger, 730 North Main St., on April 19, in reference to a man stealing meat from the store.

The complainant told police that the suspect fled the scene in an older gray car.

An off-duty police officer happened to be at the store and provided further information to the reporting officer. The off-duty officer stated the suspect had on a hat and a red jacket with a bulge in the back of the jacket. The suspect got into the back of a gray car, which was driven by a woman. Another man was in the passenger seat.

Another officer spotted the car traveling north past Wal-Mart, and initiated a traffic stop somewhere close to the Floyd County line.

Consent was given to search the vehicle, and a large amount of meat was located in the rear seat. The red jacket was also found, which reportedly had holes cut in the inner lining that could be used to conceal items.

Clifton Jackson, 43, was positively identified by the complainant and arrested. Jackson was transported to the Cedartown Police Department for booking procedures, and then taken to the Polk County Jail for housing.

The total value of the stolen meat was listed at $147.93.
