A number of students at Rockmart High were honored during the recent Winter Renaissance Awards Ceremony at the school.

Principal Teresa Treadaway opened the ceremony with a welcome to the parents and special guests. Assistant Principal DeAnna Williams presented the Renaissance Teacher of the Year award to agricultural teacher J.D. Malone. Malone was chosen by the students of RHS as the teacher who had had the most influence in their lives.

The Renaissance Student of the Year awards was presented to one student in each grade level who exemplified the qualities of the Renaissance program. The winners were Kayli Wilson (9th grade), Ally Wilson (10th grade), Cody Nichelson (11th grade), and Heather Clark (12th grade).

The Polk County Chamber of Commerce recognized STAR student Jessica Beatty and STAR teacher Darrell Lee.

In order to be recognized, students must meet the following criteria: Bronze Card - B average and no ISS, Silver Card - all A’s and B’s with no ISS, and Gold Card - all A’s with no ISS.
