There is hope for the $1.89 million Rockmart library project, according to 16th Rep. Rick Crawford (D-Cedartown).

Crawford the Senate appropriations committee passed its budget out of committee Monday with the new Rockmart library included. He said that was the result of a lot of work from him and others.

“I have been working with Sen. Bill Heath and several other senators about the Rockmart library. I received several pledges of support for putting it back in the budget,” Crawford said.

However, the project isn’t completely safe yet. Crawford said the budget will face more changes in the conference committee.

“I will continue working to keep this project in the final version,” Crawford said.

There are always four versions of the budget, he said.

The governor initially gives his budget proposal, with the House and Senate creating their versions from the governor’s plan.

The final is the negotiated conference committee budget.
