The Cedartown Middle School Bulldogs and the Rockmart Middle School Yellow Jackets met Monday afternoon in a very important Rome-Floyd Parks and Recreation Authority middle school league game.

The two Polk County teams entered into the contest undefeated, having blown away most of their previous opponents.

On Monday, the young Bulldogs kept that streak alive.

Playing in a game that was expected to be much closer, the Bulldogs defeated Rockmart 13-2.

“Jacob Rodriguez pitched four great innings,” head coach Bill Ellis said. “Jacob also hit a grand slam home run. It was definitely Jacob’s night. He hit well and pitched well.”

Henley Hays pitched in relief for Cedartown. “Henley pitched well,” Ellis said.

Walker Barrow also had a big night at the plate, hitting a solo home run.
