In the next three months alone, three in four Georgia residents (75 percent) plan to take a vacation at least 50 miles from home and four in five (80 percent) travelers expect to spend up to $2,000 on their leisure trip, showed data from AAA’s survey.
The survey also shows an almost even split on how Georgia travelers plan to pay for their vacations, with more than half of them using a credit card (54 percent) or cash (52 percent) for their purchase. Click here for the full AAA Consumer Pulse™ survey.
"We’re anticipating a high demand for travel this year,” said Brent Hubele, vice president, AAA Travel, The Auto Club Group. “AAA’s survey data is very positive and reflects consumer optimism about vacationing in 2013. The three most popular vacation options we’ve seen so far this year are river cruises, tours to Ireland for the ‘Gathering Event’, and vacations to Italy."
Although gas prices are on the rise, AAA does not expect them to hinder travel plans. There are many ways to save on cruise and tour vacations, hotel rates, attractions, and more. To get the best deals on vacations and travel options, AAA recommends consumers speak with a travel consultant.
The top five types of vacations Georgia residents plan to take in 2013 are:
Beach Trip (51 percent)
City Destination (50 percent)
Cruise (30 percent)
International Travel Trip (26 percent)
Theme Park Trip (21 percent)
