Students and faculty at the Rockmart campus of Coosa Valley Technical College observed International Literacy Day Monday with popcorn and a reminder about the power of learning.

Instructor Anne Clay reminded that literacy isn't just about learning how to read. It's the key to learning new skills and improving lives.

The theme for International Literacy Day is "Learn for Life, Learn at Work, Learn with Family."

September is also National Literacy Month.
