He graduated from Christ School in Arden, N.C., in 1945, served in the U.S. Army, and attended North Carolina State University.
Mr. Gresley had a successful career in country club management and after retirement, served his community as a volunteer. He was an active member of St. James Episcopal Church.
A brother, Stanley Gresley and a sister, Jane Gresley preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Frances Burch Gresley; daughter, Dorothy Marshall of Hiram; son, Thomas D. Gresley Jr. (Donna) of LaGrange and daughter, Bramlett Micklow (Keith) of Kennesaw. Seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren also survive.
The memorial service was held at St. James Episcopal Church in Cedartown on Saturday, Feb. 9 at 11 a.m. with The Rev. Dr. G. Donald Black officiating.
Mr. Gresley was cremated and placed in the memorial garden at The Church of the Transfiguration in Bat Cave, N.C. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to Christ School at 500 Christ School Road, Arden, N.C., 28704 or St. James Episcopal Church at P.O. Box 85, Cedartown, Ga., 30125.
