LOGANVILLE, GA. — Police in Atlanta's eastern suburbs were searching for a suspect after a man said a home invader set his house on fire.

Gwinnett County fire Lt. Colin S. Rhoden says firefighters were called to the home in Loganville shortly after noon Thursday, and the homeowner managed to get out before fire crews arrived. The homeowner said he was at home when the residence was invaded, and the suspect then set it on fire.

Rhoden said fire crews battled heavy smoke and fire throughout the home, and high wind conditions posed challenges for firefighters. Fire officials said the home is a total loss.

Gwinnett County fire officials said police were trying to find the suspected home invader. They're also investigating a report of gunfire around the time of the home invasion.
