T-e-p-i-d.
Godfrey spelled her way to a first-place win Tuesday morning during the Polk School District’s annual Spelling Bee.
She competed against seven other Polk County students to clinch the title. Godfrey was presented with a dictionary and thesaurus set by district curriculum director Laurie Atkins, compliments of the Polk County Chamber of Commerce.
Spelling Bee runner-up was Young’s Grove Elementary fourth-grader Ethan Lester.
All participants of the spelling bee took home goodie bags from First National Bank and Suntrust Bank.
Participants were: Nallely Auguilar – Cherokee Elementary; Lane Harp – Eastside Elementary; Sara Ann Robinson – Northside Elementary; Caedyn Robinson – Van Wert Elementary; Nolan Holland – Westside Elementary; Logan Maddox – Cedartown Middle School; Godfrey and Lester.
All participants were first-place winners of their respective school’s spelling bee.
Judges for the event were Joyce Mink, Patti Needham and Dale Tuck.
Lynda Rutland served as caller for the event.
