Laquinton Delmar Hudson, 19, of Cedartown is charged with child molestation and sexual battery of a female under the age of 16 years old.
Hudson, 17 years old at the time of the alleged incident, was arrested October 2010 after he was accused of inappropriate conduct with a 10-year-old Cedartown female.
Assistant District Attorney Lisa Mason told jurors in her opening statement that Hudson physically attacked the girl while she was visiting in his home.
Karen Wilkes, Hudson’s attorney, said the event was horseplay, that nothing lewd occurred, and others misconstrued the incident.
Evidence included a videotape interview with the victim and police recordings of the officers answering the initial call.
Superior Court Judge Richard Sutton had to briefly recess the court in order for attorneys to work out technical issues with the recordings.
Jurors are expected to reconvene for the trial tomorrow morning.
