Saturday, Sept. 6 will be the Opening Day for the Fall Adventure League.
The leauge, the first of it's kind in Polk County, caters to special needs children that normally wouldn't get the chance to show their talents on the baseball diamond.
The Adventure League will open at Dean Field in Rockmart at 9:15 a.m. Opening ceremonies will include Polk County School Superintendent Marvin Williams singing the National Anthem.
A ceremonial first pitch will also be thrown out by Jeff Hulsey, the Rockmart Recreation Director.
“The whole community is invited to help celebrate this wonderful occasion,” Lisa Welchel said in a press release. “We need everyone to show up to support these players and cheer them on. It would mean so much to the kids and the community.”
For more information about the league, call Welchel at 770-749-8766 or Toni Puckett at 770-748-5037.
