2.9-magnitude earthquake hits northwest Georgia

DALTON, GA. — Authorities say a small earthquake struck near Dalton, in northwest Georgia.

The Chattanooga Times Free Press reports that the quake hit at 7:39 Tuesday about four miles northwest of Dalton.

The U.S. Geological Survey reports that it was a 2.9-magnitude earthquake. There were no immediate reports of any damage.
