Officials have identified the woman killed in a crash in Rockmart on Wednesday as Ivanette Alexander Turner, 86, of Rockmart.

Rockmart Police Chief Keith Sorrells said her husband, James Alfred Turner, 87, was airlifted to Atlanta Medical Center. His condition is not being released, Sorrells said.

James Turner was driving the 1991 Chevrolet Caprice Classic with his wife as a passenger east on Georgia Highway 278 around 2:30 p.m. on Jan. 9 when he attempted to turn on Peacock Drive in front of Walmart near the intersection of highways 113 and 278.

Turner turned left in front of a tractor-trailer truck driven by Gregory Scott Smith of Dallas, Sorrells said.

Smith was not injured. A Dallas, Ga., company owns the truck, he said.

No charges will be filed, Sorrells said.
