Pets are available for adoption from the Polk County Animal Control Shelter. The shelter is located at 1215 Veal St., in the Cedartown Industrial Park.
The shelther is open for adoptions Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. and on Saturday from noon until 5 p.m.

Polk County Animal Control answers calls anywhere in Polk County. Animals which have been picked up or brought to the Polk County Animal Control Shelter may be available for adoption or recovery. Animals are housed at the facility at least five days before they are euthanized.
The adoption fee for dogs is $25; for cats, $15. Upon adoption, adopters are required to fill out a rabies and sterilization contract and will receive a Low Cost Spay/Neuter Voucher provided by the Polk County Humane Society.
For the week of March 8-14, Polk County Animal Control Officers were dispatched to 76 calls, issued 0 citations, brought in 59 animals, returned three animals to their owners, adopted out 19 animals and euthanized 34 animals.
