The Rockmart Middle School boys basketball team has their season off and running.

The Yellow Jackets scrimmaged the Rome eighth grade team on Nov. 15 and lost 41-27. However, that did little to damper the spirits of the Yellow Jackets as they came out in their season opener and took down the Chattooga Indians.

Playing on the road on Nov. 29, Rockmart was able to pull out a 48-39 win over the school up north.

The young Yellow Jackets have since battled Armuchee, Darlington and Model, but no results have been made available.

This season Rockmart is playing a 14 game schedule, competing against Cedartown, Chattooga, Armuchee, Model, Pepperell, Darlington and Coosa.

Rockmart will square off with Pepperell this Thursday in a home game. The Lady Jackets will tip-off at 4 p.m. and the Yellow Jackets will follow immediately afterwards.

Members of the Yellow Jackets squad this winter are Brady Smith, Cam Jones, Morgan Sims, Sam Depew, Jordan Williams, C.J. Rowland, Robert Harris, Blake Holloman, Michael Gay, Avery Allen, Darian Poellnitz, Dawson Sanders, Nic Tomlin, Quincy Allen and Kerrion Woolfork.

Tim Puckett is the head coach of the Yellow Jackets.
