Several students were honored at the Polk School District Board meeting Tuesday for recent achievements.

The Rockmart High School Thespians one-act play "When You Comin Back" won the 3A State Championship in Milledgeville on Nov. 3. During the competition Brent Costin was recognized as Best Actor and Morgan Oldham and Hunter Albea were named part of the All Star Cast. The group is directed by Margaret Jacobs. They were presented with a plaque by Superintendent Marvin Williams during the meeting honoring their achievements.

The winners of the Red Ribbon Week poster and digital art contests were also honored during the meeting. Brody Vainrib, of Cherokee Elementary won the overall poster contest. The overall digital contest was won by a team from RHS consisting of Connor Hooper, Issac Huskins, Jake Reeves and Brent Costin.

Other winners of the poster contest for each division were: Clayton Arnold of Eastside Elementary,third through fifth grade; Diana Hernandez, Cedartown Middle School, sixth through eight grade and Madison Millhollan, RHS, ninth through 12th grade.

Trip Ivie of CMS won the digital competition for sixth through eighth grade
