Easier commute in the works for motorists on Rockmary highway in Bartow

CARTERSVILLE, Ga. – Construction work could soon begin on widening State Route 113/Rockmart Highway in south Bartow County.

Georgia DOT has just awarded a contract valued at close to $17 million for a construction project on Rockmart Highway/State Route (SR) 113 in Bartow County. The project includes 3.77 miles of widening and reconstruction on SR 113, beginning west of Taft Road and extending to east Old Alabama Road in Bartow County. The project also includes the construction of three bridges and their approaches, located within its limits.

The widening project is scheduled to be completed by the end of December 2014, at a construction cost of $16,920,379. Information on construction and lane closure schedules on this project will be forthcoming before work begins.
