She was born on April 25, 1927 in Taylorsville, the daughter of the late Robert Lee Smith and the late Myrtle Smith.
Mrs. McAlister retired from Olinkraft, Inc. of Michigan and was a member of the Fairview Baptist Church of Rockmart.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee McAlister on Nov. 7, 1985; three sisters,Nannie Smith Fuqua,Mildred Smith Arp and Edna Mae Sutton Free and three brothers, Robert Daniel Smith, William (Trudy) Smith and Thomas Smith.
Survivors included two daughters, Beverly McAlister McDougall of Jacksonville, Fla. and Peggy McAllister Hill and her husband Guy of Morganton; son, Robert Lynn McAllister and his wife Sharon of New Lothrop, Mich.; sister, Marcella Ledford of Cartersville; brother, J. L. Smith of Chickamauga; four grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Monday, Oct. 22 at noon in the chapel of the Freeman Harris Funeral Home with Dr. Tony Weaver officiating.
Interment services followed in the family lot of Rockmart Memorial Gardens.
The following gentlemen served as pallbearers: Malcolm McDougall, Marshall McDougall, Keith Ledford, Greg Smith, Michael Smith and Donald Smith.
The following gentlemen served as honorary pallbearers: Guy Hill and Robert Lynn McAllister.
