ATLANTA — Some runways at Atlanta's airport will be closed down briefly to allow employees to search for and remove debris.

Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport plans to host its 11th annual Foreign Object Debris Walk early Wednesday morning. The airport plans to close a runway and the north cargo ramp for about half an hour to let employees get the job done.

Airport officials say more than 200 volunteers are expected to participate in the walk. The event is designed to make the public more aware of how foreign objects - like rocks, luggage straps and plastic items - can damage aircraft.

The walk is set to run from 6 a.m. to 7:45 a.m. Wednesday.
