A C-17 cargo plane from the New York Air National Guard's 105th Airlift Wing will deliver the two trucks, each capable of carrying 2,500 gallons of gas. The trucks were modified to pump unleaded fuel instead of diesel and will be used to gas up emergency response vehicles.
Gasoline, or the power to pump it, has been in short supply since Sandy roared ashore last Monday. Long gas lines have snaked around the city and in New Jersey where gas rationing was enforced.
