The following is a list of events going on in and around Polk County this weekend, Oct. 27-28:

Saturday

1. Winthrope at Polk will hold a fall feast chili cookoff on Saturday, Oct. 27 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will be live music, games for children and a bake sale. Everyone is invited to attend.

2. Nine Basic Law Enforcement recruits will graduate from Georgia Northwestern Technical College (GNTC) Saturday, Oct. 27, 2012 at 1 p.m. The ceremony will be held in the Conference Center in Building 400 at GNTC’s Gordon County Campus. The speaker at the ceremony will be Lt. Jeffery Scott Ford, Training Officer for the Polk County Police Department and GNTC Night Academy Coordinator.

3. The Bold and Beautiful Red Hatters will hold their fifth Sisters with Hat-Attitude presentation on Saturday, Oct. 27 at 7 p.m. The presentation’s theme will be “Rocking Around the Clock” and will feature singing dancing and comedy skits for the entire family. Tickets are $12 in advance or $14 at the door. 1. Cedartown First United Methodist Church will hold Sunday morning services at 11 a.m.
