The following is a list of events going on in and around Polk County today, Oct. 16:

1. The Cedartown Senior Citizen Nutrition Center located next to Burt Wood Park has activities Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Seniors 55 and older may participate in activities. Seniors 60 and older may participate in activities as well as nutritional meals and trips.

2. Early voting in Polk County began Oct. 15 and continues through Nov. 2 Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Cedartown Elections Office, 144 West Ave., Cedartown, and the Nathan Dean Community Center, 604 Goodyear Av. Rockmart.

3. Haven, a support group for women, meets each Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the auditorium of the Cedartown Housing Authority, 344 West Ave. A group discusses such issues as domestic violence, sexual assault and addictions among other topics. The group is described as a place where women can safely talk about any problem or issue they may be having. For more information, contact 770-748-6633 or 770-748-2300.

4. The Polk School District Board of Education will hold its regular session meeting at the central office on Tuesday, Oct. 16 at 6:30 p.m. in the central office.
