He was born in Floyd County, on Sept. 2, 1931, a son of the late Arthur C. and Annie Ruth Pledger Ball.
Mr. Ball was a member of the Mountain Home Baptist Church, He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, and was a heavy equipment operator, having retired from Georgia Kraft in May 1996 after 41 years of service.
Mr. Ball is survived by his children, Phillip and Lynn Ball of Silver Creek, Diane and Brent Durrett of Rome, Ted and Gretchen Ball of Atlanta, Sarah McCain and James Cato of Rome and Ben and Heather McCain of Centre, Ala.; his brother, David C. and Charlotte Ball of Rome; nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, two nephews and extended relatives.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday Oct 2 at 2 p.m. at the Mountain Home Baptist Church with Rev. Anthony Trawick officiating.
Interment will follow in the Mountain Home Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will include Jimmy Hitchcock, James Cato Michael Ball, Danny Barnes, Jamie Terry and Keith Vaughn.
An honorary escort will be composed of members of the Mountain Home Baptist Church Men’s Sunday School Class.
Mr. Ball will lie in state at the church Tuesday from 1 p.m. until the funeral hour.
