She was born on Jan. 13, 1930 in Taylorsville, the daughter of the late Jasper Freeman Popham and the late Pauline Wilkerson Popham.
Mrs. Lanier was a faithful member of the Taylorsville Baptist Church for over 70 years. She was the wife of a farmer, a homemaker, volunteered as a Pink Lady with the Rockmart Aragon Hospital and was a former employee of E-Z Mills of Cartersville. She retired from the US Postal Service and was owner of the Taylorsville Beauty Shop.
Mrs. Lanier was preceded in death by her husband, William P. (Buddy) Lanier on Jan. 26, 1979; infant daughter, Sharon Marie Lanier; four sisters, Lucille Blalock, Stella Davis, Rosa Cochran and Martha Kate Popham and a brother, Jasper Freeman (Buddy) Popham.
Survivors include a son, Larry and Vicki Lanier; two daughters, Vicky and Larry Garrison and Rhonda and Mitchell Bagley all of Taylorsville; several grandchildren, great-granchildren, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, Sept. 27 at 2 p.m. in the Taylorsville Baptist Church with Rev. Tommy Harris and Rev. Rusty Lanier officiating.
Interment followed in the family lot of the Taylorsville Cemetery.
The following gentlemen were asked to serve as pallbearers: Chad Lanier, Corey Lanier, Taylor Bagley, Cody Bagley, Scotty Rogers, Seth Rogers, Monte Stone, Josh Poston and Jason Nelson.
The following gentlemen were asked to serve as honorary pallbearers: Jimmy Woods, Larry Harris, Ray Harris, Ronnie Sutton, Harvey Woods and Bobby Selman.
Floral donations will be accepted or those wishing to do so, may make contributions to the Taylorsville Baptist Church Building Fund, 19 Church St., Taylorsville GA 30178 in memory of Mrs. Lanier.
The Freeman Harris Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
