The following is a list of events going on in and around Polk County today, Oct. 5:

1. The Cedartown Senior Citizen Nutrition Center located next to Burt Wood Park has activities Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Seniors 55 and older may participate in activites. Seniors 60 and older may participate in activities as well as nutritional meals and trips.

2. The Silver Comet/Chief Ladiga Trail Exhibition is on exhibit now through Oct. 27 in the Cultural Arts Center Visual Arts Gallery, 316 North Piedmont Avenue, Building 300, Rockmart. Gallery hours are Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. or by appointment by calling 770-684-2707.

3. The Bold and Beautiful Red Hatters will hold a “Walk A Mile in Her Shoes” event on Friday, Oct. 5 at 6 p.m. in honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month. The walk will begin at the Depot at 609 South Main Street and go to Big Springs for a candle light vigil and refreshments at the Women’s Building. The M.C. will be Jack Goss. Tony Brazier will be the guest speaker. Inspirationa singing will be provided by Colleetoe Sanders and Family.
