ATLANTA — A Georgia man accused of strangling his daughter because she planned to divorce her husband from an arranged marriage is appealing his convictions and life prison sentence.

Chaudry Rashid's case is set for oral arguments before the Georgia Supreme Court on Monday.

His lawyers argue a lower court committed several errors, including allowing jurors to see a videotaped conversation between Rashid and his family in which he says he killed his 25-year-old daughter after she disgraced the family. Rashid's lawyers say their client believed he was having a private conversation with his family and didn't realize police had left a video camera running.

The state argues other evidence proves beyond a reasonable doubt that Rashid killed his daughter, and the video merely confirms it.
