The following is a list of events going on in and around Polk County today, Oct. 1:

1. The Cedartown Senior Citizen Nutrition Center located next to Burt Wood Park has activities Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Seniors 55 and older may participate in activites. Seniors 60 and older may participate in activities as well as nutritional meals and trips.

2. A Cedartown Community Blood Drive will be held on Monday, Oct. 1 from 2 to 7 p.m. at the First Baptist Church Family Life Center. To sechuled an appointment call 1-800 RED CROSS or visit redcrossblood.org. Walk-ins are welcome. Donors will be automatically entered to win a $1,000 gift card.

4. Transitions Hospice Care is seeking compassionate individuals to provide support and companionship to patients. Anyone who would like to become an integral part of the Transitions Hospice Care team and offer superior hospice service to patients and families contact Britnee Tow, Volunteer Coordinator, at 706-378-2273 or btow@transitionshc.com. Opportunities are available in Rockmart, Cedartown and Rome.
