Mrs. Betty Rose Simpson Gary, 73, of Cedartown, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 8, 2012.

She was born on Aug 10, 1939 in Cedartown, the daughter of the late Jesse Robert Simpson Sr. and the late Mary Catherine Lassiter Simpson.

Mrs. Gary graduated from Rockmart High School Class of 1957. She was employed by the Rome Plow Company for over 20 years.

Mrs. Gary was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Cedartown where she served in many capacities, Triple L Secretary, Memorial Fund Committee, Bereavement Committee and a member of the Glen Frasier Sunday School Class.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wilburn Lee Gary; sister, Tommie Lou Campbell and a brother, Jesse Robert Simpson, Jr.

She is survived by her daughter, Beth Phillips and her husband, Eddie, of Cedartown; son, Michael Gary, of Cedartown; sister, Anne Gray of Cedartown; two grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

In keeping with Mrs. Gary’s wishes she was cremated. A memorial service for was conducted on Monday, Sept. 10 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church Chapel in Cedartown with Dr. David Taylor and Rev. Wayne Benefield officiating.

Interment followed in the Antioch Baptist Cemetery with the Rev. Wayne Benefield officiating.

Honorary pallbearers were the Hand & Foot Card Group and the Glen Frasier Sunday School Class.

The family has requested that flowers be omitted and memorial contributions may be made to the Cedartown First Baptist Memorial Fund, P. O. Box 720, Cedartown, GA 30125 or to Heyman Hospice Care at Floyd, 420 E. 2nd Ave., Rome, GA 30161.

The Olin L. Gammage and Sons Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
