He was born June 8, 1941 in Bartow County, GA, the son of the late Meiklhem Harry Godfrey and Emily Cathryne Martin Godfrey.
Surviving are a daughter, Denise Crozier and husband Geoffrey; son, Harry Van Godfrey, Jr.; four grandchildren, Brandon Shadrick, Megan Shadrick, Jenna Connor, D.J. Connor; two great grandchildren, Elizabeth Shadrick, Gavin Shadrick; and a brother, Billy Godfrey.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Bob Godfrey.
The funeral service was conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 4, in the chapel of the Gammage Funeral Home with Rev. Reginald Campbell officiating. Interment was in Polk Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers were Geoffrey Crozier, Brandon Shadrick, Tommy Jack Britt, Mickey Corley, Doug Corley, and Billy Hicks.
The Olin L. Gammage and Sons Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
