The moments leading up to a local woman walking naked in downtown Cedartown remain a mystery, according to local police.

Cedartown Assistant Police Chief Jamie Newsome said police officers have been trying to find out from the incoherent woman what happened prior to a 911 call to report her on the street.

No luck, he said.

The woman, in her early 20’s, was found walking naked on Juliette St., at 6:35 p.m. Sept. 6 after someone made a call to 911, Newsome said.

Police knew the identity of the woman once they approached her, he said. However, Newsome said she appeared to have been in some type of incident because she was covered in what appeared to police to be briar scratches.

She was completely incoherent, he said.

The woman was taken to a Rome hospital where she recovered from her ordeal.

However, Newsome said she has not ever been able to explain to police what happened.
