Recently USA Wrestling named Bowman as being a “Future Olympian” by finishing in the top 25 wrestlers in the United States in the 105-pound, Novice Division. Bowman had placed 22nd in points.
During the 2011-12 season, Bowman won a lot.
He placed first in the state qualifier, allowing him to participate in the USA State tournament for the fourth consecutive year. He also placed second in the Georgia Grind, a national wrestling tournament in Suwanne, Ga.
After completing the 2011-12 season with a winning record, Bowman was selected to be a member of the Team Minion Duals, which consisted of wrestlers from all over the Peach state. Bowman and his team wrestled in the Kingsport Duals in Kingsport, Tenn., a national event.
Teams from Iowa, Indiana, Michigan, North Carolina, and Tennessee among others competed at the event. Team Minion would place 12th out of 24 teams at the event.
Bowman wanted to thank his wrestling coaches and his family for their part in his success. He also wanted to thank the Cedartown Matdawgs booster club and its members for their support in making the wrestling program a success and he also thanked the Polk County School District.
Bowman has already started training for next season. He will continue to wrestle in USA tournaments and compete in more national tournaments.
Bowman, a sixth grader, also plans to wrestler for the Cedartown Middle School team this winter.
