She was born in Rockmart, on July 17, 1944, a daughter of Willie Levi Hicks and Willie Mae Roberts Hicks. Mrs. Deaton had lived in Atlanta and Cobb County, before returning to Polk County in 1995. She was a member of the Seney Baptist Church and was a homemaker.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Billy and Van Hicks.
Survivors include her husband, Jimmy Deaton of Aragon to whom she was married on May 6, 1961; four children: Darrell Deaton, Tellico Plains, Tenn., Kathy Burt, Cartersville, Karen Pilgrim, Kennesaw, and Tim Deaton, Acworth; 10 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
The funeral service was conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 1, 2012 in the Chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Darin Cochran officiating. Interment was in the Bellview Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers included Gary Burt, Ricky Miller, Quinton Knight, Mike Burns, Nick Goings and Corey Deaton.
The Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
