Asa Stephens, a sophomore at Gainesville State College and son of Kevin and Dawn Stephens of

Cedartown, has been cast as Diego in the stage production of The Frog Prince which is being produced by WonderQuest Sept. 28-Oct 6 at Brenau University’s Hosch Theatre, 429 Academy St., Gainesville.

WonderQuest is the young audiences division of the Gainesville Theatre Alliance, a nationally recognized collaboration between Gainesville State College, Brenau University, theatre professionals and the north Georgia community. This is the first on-stage role for Stephens, a graduate of Cedartown High School, who was on the construction crew for numerous GTA shows last season, and was employed this summer as a carpenter to build the set for The Frog Prince.

“With just four weeks from casting to opening, preparations and rehearsal for this show have been a brilliant challenge,” Stephens commented. “I am thrilled to be working with Gay Hammond, a visionary director who makes this a tremendous learning experience.”

Nearly 6,000 elementary and middle school students will be in the audience for WonderQuest’s school matinees. Tickets for family performances of The Frog Prince are $10-12 for adults and seniors (65 and up) and $6-7 for students, and are now on sale through the GTA Box Office, 678-717-3624, or online at www.gainesvilletheatrealliance.org.
