WSB-TV reports the city is seeking bids to develop 55 acres of land that's now used for parking at Turner Field. Atlanta officials and the Braves' management say new attractions would help draw people to the stadium year-round, not just during baseball season.
The request for bids calls for mixed-use development that could include residential units and would require at least 10,000 parking spaces.
Braves fan John Pickle says the proposed development could disrupt parking and tailgating near the stadium. Josh Murtha, president of neighboring Summerhill homeowners association, says he'd like to see new businesses open in the area.
