The board made the decision via unanimous vote during the regular session meeting Tuesday, Sept. 11.
GSBA Board Specialist Jim Puckett gave a presentation to the board last month outlining the 17-step process the GSBA uses to find and screen applicants to bring before the board.
"First we will work with the board to determine what qualifications you want, then we'll take care of sending out the advertising notices and accepting applications," Puckett said.
Puckett stated that the GSBA would screen applications and bring the most qualified ones to the board for review, but that GSBA would not be responsible for which candidate the board hires.
The program will cost Polk School District approximately $8,000, Puckett said.
They will also provide the school board with a list of potential interim superintendents during the search process free of charge, Puckett said.
Williams, who will retire on Nov. 30, has asked to remain uninvolved in the process of finding his replacement.
