Cedartown police are trying to determine what happened to cause a young woman to be walking naked on Juliette Street last week, according to an official.

So far, they haven’t had any success.

“Officers have made attempts to speak with her and haven’t been able to get information out of her,” said Cedartown Assistant Police Chief Jamie Newsome.

The woman, in her early 20’s, was found walking naked on Juliette St., at 6:35 p.m. Sept. 6 after someone made a call to 911, Newsome said.

Police knew the identity of the woman once they approached her, he said. However, Newsome said she appeared to have been in some type of incident.

“She was covered from head to toe in what appeared to be briar scratches,” he said.

She was also incoherent, he said.

“Officers attempted to get information on what happened to her. She was incoherent and officers could not determined what had happened,” he said.

An ambulance was called and the woman was taken to Floyd Medical Center (FMC) in Rome. She is still in the hospital, Newsome said.

Officers have been trying to determine if the woman was sexually assaulted, but Newsome said they haven’t been able to come to a conclusion either way. It is especially difficult since the woman remains in an incoherent state, he said.

It has not been determined what is causing the woman’s confusion, he said.
