Drug possession

A Cedartown man was arrested on a drug possession charge after he allegedly tried to hide a crack pipe from police, according to reports.

Cedartown Police Department reports state that officers first came into contact with Jimmy Lee Brown, 48, of 801 Jefferson Street, Cedartown, around 1 p.m. Aug. 8 while he was riding a bicycle near Jones Street and Fletcher Street.

Police reportedly asked Brown to stop and speak with them. Brown replied “I aint got nothing,” and rode away, ignoring police commands to stop, reports state.

Reports state that Brown rode his bicycle to a Stubbs Street home and walked in the front door. The owner of the home, who was next door, ran over yelling that Brown didn't live there.

After police arrested him, Brown admitted to throwing a crack pipe into the living room of the house, where reports state that children were present. The crack pipe was recovered as evidence and Brown was arrested on charges of drug possession.



Father, son beaten

A father and son were beaten in a bank parking lot, but no suspects have been arrested in the incident, according to police reports.

Reports state an officer was driving a patrol car on West Avenue after midnight Aug. 12 when he heard screaming and saw several people walking from Warehouse Street.

One of the witnesses told the officer her father was unconscious in the parking lot and pointed out the assailants' car, which was leaving the area.

The officer called in a description of the car and for emergency medical services. Reports state the officer found the father and son in the parking lot. Both were injured and the son was conscious but in a pool of blood, bleeding from several areas of his head, reports state.

Witnesses told police the father was walking out of the Oak Wood Room when he was approached by several men attempting to start a fight. They followed him to the First National Bank parking lot, where they assaulted him. The victim's son was assaulted and beaten when he attempted to break up the fight, reports said.

As police were interviewing witnesses, reports of an armed robbery at Pizza Hut came in and police left to go to that call. Witnesses were gone when they returned to West Avenue, reports said.

The manager on duty at Pizza Hut who called in the robbery was later arrested on charges of falsifying the incident to police.



Warrant served

Police didn't have to go far to serve one warrant.

Cedartown Police reports show that on the morning of Aug. 15 an officer was advised a man named Brandon Massey, 28, of 26 Allen Drive, Cedartown, who was asleep in the parking lot of the Polk County Jail, had a warrant out for his arrest.

Officers checked and found there was a warrant. Reports state they found Massey asleep in a truck in the parking lot. Massey was arrested and immediately taken into the jail.



Aggravated assault

A Cedartown man faces aggravated assault and armed robbery charges after he allegedly robbed three people at gunpoint outside their Atlanta Street Home, according to police reports.

Reports state the incident happened around 11 p.m. Aug. 17 when the victims were walking back from a friend's house. They told police they noticed a man identified as Tommy Cecil Rose, 21, of 119 Clyde Drive, Cedartown, standing outside their home.

Victims said that Rose covered the bottom of his face with something and then followed them inside with a sawed-off double-barrel shotgun.

According to the victims' statements to police, Rose ordered them to go outside and empty their pockets. Victims told police that they complied because they were afraid for their lives.

However, the victims stated that Rose did not take anything from them. He walked away and left in a white Ford Taurus, driven by a white female.

Reports state Rose and he was arrested on Jackson Street the next day. Although the police have a name for the female suspect, she has not been arrested, according to reports.
